“Inefficiency should be banned from logistics. Empty lorries should be prevented by cooperating or using a continues and improved planning”, says Henk Groeneveld, CEO of Groeneveld. With 33 enterprises and 750 staff members in fourteen countries such as The Netherlands, Poland, Australia, Spain and China Groeneveld Group is a large supplier in transport, off-road and industrial sectors. Groeneveld is active in several markets. Their main product groups are automated maintenance, safety and ICT for transport and logistics. GreenCat, also member of the Groeneveld enterprise develops and implements software for planning in logistic organizations.
Henk Groeneveld, CEO of Groeneveld participates in the company for many years now. “I started my career as an administrator. But that was not entirely my cup of tea. After a while I started selling our products. We started working with Nijhof-Wassink a long time ago. At first we supplied them with our revolutionary grease. Later our corporation expanded with supplying on-board computers and planning software, says Groeneveld. “The following years our corporation with Nijhof-Wassink opened many doors to us. Fifteen years ago they advised us to start a subsidiary in Poland. Looking at our impressive figures, we have no regrets about it.” “With an annual turnover of 100 million euro we are doing well. The past years we have grown and grown. Of course we experience the worldwide crisis as well. But we are also a healthy company and we do not cut down our budget on development. By working hard and disciplined we manage to keep our promises.
Groeneveld has its own research and development department. “We want to control the complete process”, says Henk Groeneveld. “Nijhof-Wassink is a client that believes in our products. They are willing to invest in development of their own services and therefore they like to try new products and gadgets. Dutch logistic companies in general are rather well developed compared to foreign companies. Management, efficiency and IT within the logistic branch is well organized. We have realized that automation is the core of our business and needs to be developed.
“IT has the future. We have insight in the market and want to book progress. More efficient workflows and more advanced IT functionalities. Not only for the larger parties, for every company in the branch. We will continue to focus on IT. It is getting more and more common to work with advanced systems. Especially the new generation drivers are used to automated systems and the various rules and regulations.” About the company’s future Groeneveld is clear: “We are focused on keeping the company in the family. This is how it all started and I would like to continue that way. As long as I remain in good health I would like to contribute to the results of our organization. I enjoy my work. Every day it contributes to my mental richness. As long as I experience this, I will continue.”
